Our first workshop will be taught by Professors Michael Hunt and Jerma Jackson on Saturday, October 7th. It will be held in Toy Lounge in Dey Hall on the University of North Carolina's Chapel Hill campus. Breakfast will be available at 9:30 and the workshop will begin at 10:00 and continue until 3 pm. Lunch will be provided. A steering committee meeting, open to all interested workshop attendees, will be held immediately following the workshop. For directions, parking information, agenda, and optional reading, continue reading.
Parking Information:
We recommend that you park either in the Morehead Lot (216 E Franklin) or the Swain Lot (105 E Cameron). The Swain Lot is a bit closer to Dey Hall but the Morehead Lot is easier to find if you are unfamiliar with the Chapel Hill campus. There will be no one in either ticket booth when you arrive in the morning and you may park without a pass or ticket. The booths will be staffed, however, by the time the workshop ends in the afternoon. Make sure to get a pass from Laura Premack before you leave in order to avoid having to pay for your parking.

Directions to Toy Lounge:
Toy Lounge is located on the top floor of Dey Hall, which is on the west side of Polk Place. (See below for link to campus map.) When you enter the building, immediately turn left and look for the stairwell on the right. Climb two flights to the top floor. When you exit the stairwell, turn right. Toy Lounge will be in front of you.

Optional Reading:
There is no need to do any preparatory reading before the workshop. If, however, you are eager to jump into the material before Saturday, here is an essay on globalization which you may want to take a look at. (It is NOT necessary to print this out and bring it with you. All necessary material will be provided.)
