The work of the New Schools Project is focused on creating small, personalized and academically rigorous schools. Over the next few years, the New Schools Project will support the establishment of approximately forty-five small high schools across the state that will create highly personalized environments. These schools may be either conversion schools in which larger, comprehensive schools are redesigned as several discreet and focused schools within a building serving up to 400 students each or new, stand-alone small schools. Each school will enjoy greater flexibility in its use of time and resources and create unique approaches to develop an integrated approach to learning that is relevant to the local economy and academically rigorous.
