NC Graduation Project Exemplars
REQUEST FOR EXEMPLARS
The NC Department of Public Instruction has begun the process of
developing exemplars for the four rubrics that must be used to evaluate
the components of the NC Graduation Project (NCGP). These exemplars
will help inform the use of the rubrics and provide insight into the
expectations of the various aspects of each rubric. The NCGP Advisory
Council, which is comprised of seasoned project coordinators, has agreed
to help facilitate this work and needs your assistance. Please continue with the extended entry below to find out how you can be involved...

NC Professional Teaching Standards DRAFT
Re-visioned NC Professional Teaching Standards DRAFT
Please review this draft of the re-visioned NC Professional Teaching Standards for specialty areas (Dance, Music, Theatre Arts, Visual Arts) and also the elementary and middle grades requirements and provide feedback to Dr. Kathy Sullivan (ksulliva@dpi.state.nc.us) by September 12, 2008.
Please share with your colleagues and anyone you think might be interested in reviewing them and send their feedback to Kathy by Friday, September 12th. The plan is to take the standards to the State Board of Education for discussion in October and final approval in November.
Please note:
1. The specialty area standards are addressed as 3b of the Teacher Standards.
2. Middle Grades programs must address the generic middle grades standards as well as the English/LA, math, science, or social studies standards for middle grades.
3. Secondary Education programs must address the generic secondary education standards as well as the English/LA, math, science, or social studies standards for secondary grades.
4. CTE programs must address the common CTE standards AND the standards specific to the CTE area (AG, BITE, FACS, etc.)
5. Kathy will still need to edit the standards for consistency across them (e.g., do we use the term teacher or candidate throughout...consistency in headings after standards, etc.) She also needs to finish the chart that shows the standards across the grade levels.
Thank you for your assistance in reviewing these standards!
