2008 Standard Course of Study Revisions
Plan for developing Essential Standards and Objectives approved by the State Board of Education (SBE)
At its October 2008 meeting the SBE approved a plan for generating Essential Standards and Objectives in all content areas. For mathematics 6-12, a committee of stakeholders will begin with the products of the 2007-2008 revision committees for mathematics 6-12 and will make the changes necessary to comply with the Essential Standards and Objectives format. Specifics regarding the Essential Standards and Objectives project are still being discussed; however, the timeline for implementing the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (SCS) for Mathematics K-5 (2008) is expected to change.
