HEALTH EDUCATION CURRICULUM ASSESSMENT TOOL IS HERE!

The Division of Adolescent School Health at the CDC has released the Health Education Curriculum Assessment Tool (HECAT). This device mirrors the Physical Education Curriculum Assessment Tool (PECAT) which was distributed statewide May 2007.

Rely on this tool to assist with comprehenisve sequential K - High School Health Education in your schools. "The Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT) can help school districts, schools, and others conduct a clear, complete, and consistent analysis of health education curricula based on the National Health Education Standards and CDC’s Characteristics of Effective Health Education Curricula. The HECAT results can help schools select or develop appropriate and effective health education curricula and improve the delivery of health education. The HECAT can be customized to meet local community needs and conform to the curriculum requirements of the state or school district.", CDC-DASH 2008

The following HECAT health topic modules are currently available:

    * Alcohol and Other Drugs
* Healthy Eating
* Physical Activity
* Tobacco

Additional modules will be added to the CDC-DASH site as they are completed.
