Number of LEP Students in NC 2002-2007
In North Carolina we take an annual "LEP headcount" every October. Each district and charter school completes an electronic survey online, and those data are given to the NC General Assembly on December 1 to determine State funding.
Those numbers are also shared with the US Dept. of Education, although federal funding (Title III) is based on Census data.
Below is a document that compares total LEP numbers by LEA (district). We've experienced much growth in NC!
