Sample Parent Notification Letter

Title III of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 requires each subgrantee to notify parents of a limited English proficient child identified for participation in a language instruction educational program.

Sample Parent Notification Letters are provided below in English and Spanish. These letters are appropriate for those students who have been identified as limited English Proficient by the W-APT screener.

W-APT (WIDA ACCESS Placement Test)

The W-APT will be administered to all initially enrolled language minority students beginning with the 2008-09 school year. This test is the initial assessment and is used to identify students as limited English proficient (LEP).
