Jolliffe proved to be a successful presenter during a recent ELA DPI institute, The Literacy of Rhetorical Analysis: Lessons for Grades 6-12 ELA, held in Raleigh, June 3-4, 2008.  Experienced and inexperienced teachers gleaned substance from Dr. Jolliffe’s clear presentation of rhetoric as a mode of thinking that informs persuasive speaking and writing. Central office and other educators also noted the immediate and critical relevance of Dr. Jolliffe’s presentation to gifted and talented and other intelligences among our varied student and teaching populations. He demonstrated through multiple references to diverse texts that rhetoric is a dynamic concept with 21st century application to everyone’s world. This downloadable show features items of interest for English teachers, administrators, and the concerned public. </p>

<p>This first Podcast features an interview with assessment guru Margaret Heritage. Margaret was the featured presenter at the ELA institute on Formative Assessment that was held in New Bern on October 22 and 23, 2007. This is an excellent opportunity to hear the thoughts and insights on Formative Assessment from an international expert on this topic.</p>

<p>Please tune in to future podcasts which will include more interviews with educators from across the state and nation, great ideas for lesson plans, ELA updates, and much, much more!
