Making a glue bowl may be the answer for you! Glue Bowls are a great way to get small hands involved with projects that involve glue. My Kindergarten students have been very successful using a small container with a glue-filled sponge! Directions: 1 Get small containers that have sealable lids. (The lids must be easy enough to open and close for young fingers.) 2 Trim around a cheap sponge so it fits in the bottom of the container. 3 Place the sponge in the bottom of the container and moisten with just a few drops of water. (Not soggy wet!) 4 Squirt glue onto the sponge. 5 Flip the sponge over and squirt on more glue. 6 Snap the lid on top to keep sponge moist. TIP: You may need to flip the sponge over if they have been sitting for awhile. The glue will run to the bottom. Remember, it is the process-- not the product!!!! We should all agree that art projects for young children should be made by the children. If the adults hold the glue bottle, scissors, or other materials, the project was not made by the child. Glue bowls are one way to help a child express his/her creative ideas!
