The State Board of Education approved the new North Carolina School Counselor Job Description in their June 1, 2006, meeting. The new School Counselor Job Description was prepared collaboratively by representatives from school districts, institutions of higher education, professional organizations and the Department of Public Instruction. This job description is intended to be a guide for the implementation of comprehensive school counseling programs in the public schools of North Carolina.
